New Fever Coach signs troubled WR Goodman

Posted: Updated:
KENNEWICK, Wash. -  When Richard Davis was hired as coach of the Fever, he preached finding high-character players to represent his team. Davis believes WR Phil Goodman is such a player, despite Goodman's recent drug arrest. Davis added Goodman to his roster Wednesday, making him the first player from last year's team to officially rejoin the Fever.
"I go into this not oblivious to his troubles but also not oblivious to his good side.," said Davis.
Back in July, Goodman was arrested after practice on drug-related charges. He was suspended by then-coach Cedric Walker.  Davis says Goodman is past those things and is ready to set an example and prove he has straightened things out.
"If he doesn't, he'll be gone," said Davis.
The season starts in late March.
