Yakima Church Holding Free Clothing Exchange on Saturday
YAKIMA--A local church offers a free way to update your wardrobe. First Presbyterian Church in Yakima is getting ready for their annual Family Clothing Exchange.
Volunteers are organizing clothes in preparation for Saturday's event. This is the exchange's 11th year at First Presbyterian Church. Attendance exploded last year, when more than 900 people traded in and picked up clothes.
With the current state of the economy, the Family Clothing Exchange's founder thinks the clothing exchange makes sense.
"People are looking for ways to cut back," Theresa Higbee said. "Clothing is one way they can do that."
Higbee expects to have a long line of people an hour before the exchange starts. First Presbyterian holds two of these events each year, one in October and another in the spring. Donations are not required to get clothes, but they are appreciated.
The exchange runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. If you have clothes you want to donate, they'll still be accepting them until about 1:30 Saturday.
