YAKIMA--Police are looking for suspects after a 20-year old Yakima man was shot to death in a parking lot last night.
Police say Adan Tapia was in the parking lot of Eastridge Apartments on East D Street in Yakima around 9:20 p.m. Friday to meet a friend. Witnesses say a thin, hispanic male about six feet tall and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt approached Tapia. He began arguing with Tapia, accusing him of shooting at his house, then shot Tapia several times.
Police don't think the shooting was planned.
"It was probably a chance encounter between two individuals," Capt. Greg Copeland said. "They possibly had some dispute in the past or the suspect thought the victim had done something to him."
A witness told us she saw the suspect get in a white car with two other people and quickly drive away down an alley.
Tapia died at regional hospital about an hour after the shooting.
Police think the incident is gang-related and they are investigating.
