Body Found in River Identified by Pasco Police

KENNEWICK, Wash--  A body has been recovered from the Columbia River and the Benton County Coroner tells KNDU it's a missing man Pasco police were looking for.

The Benton County coronor says it's Scott Jarvis.  He's originally from Nice, California,  but police found his van abandoned in Pasco last week.

Dive rescue teams, Columbia Patrol, and Benton County deputies were on the scene near Two Rivers Park.  Police believe a fisherman found the body and called 9-1-1 just past 1 p.m. Saturday.

Jarvis's family told police he had been diagnosed with mental disabilities and they don't know how he ended up in the Tri-Cities.  The coroner isn't sure how long the body was in the water. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
