YAKIMA, Wash-- Police have been searching for the people involved in fatal shooting on East "D" street that took place Friday October 17th. A witness told them Jeremyah Parras was involved, leading gang unit officers to this duplex on East "F" and North 2nd street.
This prompted nearby Barge-Lincoln Elementary School to go under lock down around 10:30 Tuesday morning. The suspect, Jeremyah Parras is now in custody.
According to detectives Parras believes that 20-year-old murder victim Adan Tapia fired shots at Parras' home about a week before he was killed.
"Well we're not actually sure it the victim really did fire shots at the suspect or not. But, in the suspects mind that is what happened and that's the motive for the case," said Captain Greg Copeland, Yakima Police Department.
Parras is a known gang member with a long list of felony convictions, nine. However, no outstanding warrants until today. The search of the house yielded no murder weapon, but YPD will be pursuing with a charge of murder one based on witness testimony.
