ANACORTES, Wash. (AP) - The Samish Indian tribe has acquired 14
acres of land on Highway 20 in Anacortes.
Tribal Chairman Tom Wooten told the Skagit Valley Herald it is
considering developments that could include a hotel or casino.
The property sold for $8.6 million. Wooten says the land will be
put in federal trust and removed from tax rolls.
Wooten says the tribe will work with Anacortes and follow
building codes and pay fees for city services.
