Polls Differ On Size Of Obama Lead

Posted: Updated:

UNDATED (AP) - One new poll gives Barack Obama a 16-point lead
over John McCain with a week left before the election.
The Pew Research Center poll of registered voters finds Obama
with the support of 52 percent of those surveyed. McCain has the
backing of 36 percent.
By a margin of 48-to-31 percent, more independent voters support
Obama over McCain. Whites are split between the two, while blacks
overwhelmingly support Obama.
Another poll finds the gap smaller. The latest Gallup Poll daily
tracking update gives Obama a lead of 7 percentage points -- 50
percent to 43 percent.
