YAKIMA, Wash-- With just five days left Dino Rossi is sweeping Washington for any last votes. Thursday night Rossi and Doc Hastings teamed-up to rally support in Yakima.
If anyone knows the power of the vote it's Rossi, after losing in 2004 by a narrow margin. This time around he's doing everything he can to ensure the win.
In what Rossi calls a "grass route effort" he and fellow Republicans are touring Washington, asking for help. The 33 city tour is named the "Road to Victory Tour" and it cuts its way through the state. Rossi is asking people to volunteer to make phone calls, encouraging people to vote. He said a few hundred people will be making calls tonight and he's hoping even more as the rally goes on.
"And after three million votes were cast it came down to 129 votes and people have been kicking themselves ever since because everyone knows 129 people. At their work, at their church, in their neighborhood or you could meet them in the next five days couldn't ya, right?" said Rossi.
If elected governor, Rossi plans to bring what he calls "fresh blood" to Olympia by appointing new people to the heads of state boards and commissions.
Rossi plans on wrapping up his rally tour in Issaquah, his home turf.
