KENNEWICK, Wash. - It was a somber mood at John Dam Plaza in Richland as victims and survivors of domestic violence were honored Thursday night.
The annual event is organized by the Domestic Violence Services of Benton and Franklin Counties.
They were honoring the survivors and remembering victims who have been killed.
There were 28 red life size silhouettes representing a victim of domestic violence that died in the past 10 years in Benton and Franklin Counties.
There were also almost 350 luminaries lining the walkway representing each survivor that stayed at the local shelter last year.
On average about 16 women and children are housed at the local domestic violence shelter every night.
