Tri-City Republican Candidate For State Representative Taken to Lourdes Counseling Center For Trying to Hurt Himself
KENNEWICK, Wash.-- On Sunday, Republican candidate Rob Welch threatened to harm himself.
Welch is running for Washington State Representative in the 8th District, Position 2. It all started at his home in downtown Kennewick.
Police reports show Welch's wife called police after a verbal fight between him and his son. Welch punched a pane of glass, and left the house saying he wanted to hurt himself.
He was gone for two hours before police were called. Officers found him walking back home. Welch was voluntarily taken to Kennewick General Hospital for treatment on his hand, and later met with Crisis Response.
He was detained for 72 hours, and eventually taken to Lourdes Counseling Center in Richland. Staff at Lourdes couldn't confirm or deny whether Welch was a patient there.
