Man Arrested In Richland After 4 Hour Stand-Off With Benton County SWAT Team
RICHLAND, Wash. - A 29-year-old man was taken to Benton County Jail after a four hour stand-off with the SWAT team.
It happened at 420 Goethals Drive.
Richland Police said Javier Chavez was wanted for two separate warrants, one was for not complying after he was released from jail and the other one was for a violent offense steaming from a domestic violence situation.
Police said he refused to come out of a shed in the backyard and he was eventually tased and put in the back of a police car.
Richland Police Captain Randy Barnes said, "Anyone that has a felony offense has a potential of being violent and in this case his past history in dealing with police he's not reluctant to fight and resist."
Police had been searching for him and an officer drive by Monday night and saw Chavez go into the house.
