UW 14 1/2-Point Underdogs, WSU 40-Point Underdogs This Week
UNDATED (AP) - After being beaten by a combined score of 114-0 in Pac-10 road games last week, the 0-8 Washington Huskies and the 1-8 Washington State Cougars will be big underdogs in league home games this week. The oddsmakers have installed the Huskies as 14 1/2-point underdogs against 2-6 Arizona State while the Cougars are 40-point underdogs against 5-3 Arizona. The Washington State-Arizona game will be played at 2 p.m. Saturday at Martin Stadium in Pullman and the Washington-Arizona State game will be played at 4 p.m. Saturday at Husky Stadium in Seattle. Coach Mike Stoops' Arizona team can become bowl eligible with a victory. But two years ago, the Wildcats were snubbed by bowl selectors when they had six wins. The U-of-A hasn't played in a bowl game since beating Nebraska 23-20 in the 1998 Holiday Bowl. The nine-year postseason absence is the Pac-10's longest drought. Coach Dennis Erickson's Arizona State team has lost six games in a row.
