Drunk Driver Runs Into The Old Health Department Building in Kennewick
KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Police arrested a man after he drove into the old Health Department building.
It happened Monday night on West Canal Drive. 26-year-old Chanton Zumwalt was driving drunk.
Police say Zumwalt left the scene and walked home. He was later arrested at his apartment on west 10th Avenue.
The man told police he wasn't wearing a seatbelt and had minor injuries to his head.
"This is the kind of driver that we don't want on our streets, people with habitual DUIs have ignition interlock requirements but don't put that equipment in their car," said Sergeant Ken Lattin, with the Kennewick Police Department.
Police also say Zumwalt was also charged for driving with a suspended license in the second degree. This means he's somewhat likely to re-offend.
Zumwalt will also have to pay for the damages to the building.
