Beaver Leads Over Oliver For Benton County Commissioner
KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Both of the candidates for the District 3 position on the Benton County Commission know politics.
Claude Oliver has served as a Commissioner and Treasurer. Jim Beaver as Kennewick's mayor. On election night, Beaver is leading Oliver 56% to 44%.
Beaver says he has mixed emotions about leaving the title of Kennewick Mayor. A position he's held since 1996.
We also heard from Claude Oliver. He tells us why he thinks he fell behind on votes.
"We're excited about the opportunity, and of course the numbers that came out. We're moving forward. We'll go to work and hopefully make a difference," said Jim Beaver.
"The editorial in the Tri-City Herald flat misstated, misrepresented the July 7th Commissioner meeting to the public. That is the only thing I can really attribute to the vote standing," said Claude Oliver.
Claude Oliver says he was planning on taking some off in the near future. Jim beaver says he's thankful for all those who came out and voted.
