YAKIMA--Two of the hottest spots in Yakima Tuesday night were the Democrat and Republican parties' election headquarters.
Democratic supporters were ecstatic when Barack Obama was announced as the victor in the presidential election. While republicans were disappointed by that news, they were able to console themselves with a strong showing in local races.
No matter which party wins the races, one Republican supporter says camaraderie at the election parties is more important than the winners and losers.
"It's really fun to be a part of the group that's celebrating our exciting victories here for our local team of legislators and also it's kinda nice to console about the national loss."
While the Republican headquarters had a quieter tone, supporters say they are happy with how well they did in Yakima.
But, Democrats were equally satisfied by the news that they will be taking back the White House in January.
