GRANDVIEW, Wash. -- In the city of Grandview, one team commands as much if not more attention than the football team. The Greyhound volleyball team, led by longtime coach John Lafever, continues to pile up wins.
Coach Lafever has been coaching Greyhound volleyball for over 15 years. He has had 8 state appearances in the last 10 years. He also has a growing family, with six grandchildren and a 7th on the way.
And on Monday night against Othello, the Greyhounds celebrated an important occasion. John Lafever won his 400th match, a mark to be excited about, unless your Lafever.
Lafever says, "I don't know, any win is a nice win."
But Lafever is proud of what his teams have been able to do. He says, "We've been consistent, been consistently a tough team to play against. I think that's the most important thing."
Right now, Lafever and his team's goals is simple: win another match and hopefully, spike their way through the state tournament.
