Yakima Coffee Shop to Use Proceeds For Coats For Kids Drive
YAKIMA--KNDO's Coats For Kids drive continues, and a new Yakima business is providing another way to help the cause.
Heart of America Espresso is using all their proceeds from today and tomorrow to buy coats to donate to the coats for kids drive. Buying a coffee should keep you warm. And, the money you spend will keep needy kids warm during the winter too.
So it is not just coffee, you can get a smoothie or breakfast snacks help the cause. The owners hope they can raise enough money to buy 400 coats for needy kids.
"We really want to give back and kind of be that place where you know that you're going to come here and then we're going to do something good with [your money,]" Nicole Daugherty said. "I want to go shopping on Sunday and buy as many coats as I can."
They even enlisted a gorilla to draw attention--and hopefully customers--to the shop. They will be open from seven a.m. to four p.m. Saturday.
Heart of America plans to make charitable days like this a regular occurance. They say they will donate their proceeds from Saturday to a different cause every week.
