SEATTLE (AP) -- Rudy Carpenter rallied Arizona State with a pair of second-half touchdowns today as Arizona beat Washington 39-19.
The loss means Washington, at 0-9, remains the only winless Division I team in the nation, with a team record losing streak of 11 games stretching back to last season.
The previous worst was a 10-game skid during the 1968-69 seasons. Carpenter hit seven straight passes during the two decisive scoring drives. He finished 22 of 31 for 218 yards Keegan Herring capped the night with a 29-yard touchdown run midway through the fourth quarter. Herring finished with 144 yards on 22 carries.
Washington quarterback Ronnie Fouch was wildly inconsistent, missing on nine straight throws at one point in the second half as the Huskies' offense managed just 8 yards in the second half before a late 39-yard run. The Huskies also failed to find the end zone three times inside the Sun Devils' 5-yard line.
Fouch was 13 of 40 for 192 yards, with two interceptions.
