PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) -- The Washington State football team got on the scoreboard today, but still lost to Arizona 59-28.

The Cougars had lost two straight games by shutouts before today's contest in Pullman. Nic Grigsby ran for a career-high 189 yards and Xavier Smith scored two touchdowns for Arizona, which became eligible for its first bowl game in a decade.

The Cougars became the first Pac-10 team to give up 500 (502) points in a season, with three games left to play. They have lost six straight and have given up at least 52 points in five of them. Arizona quarterback Willie Tuitama completed 11 of 15 passes for 214 yards with one interception. The Wildcats piled up 531 yards - including 317 on the ground - against the nation's worst defense.

The Cougars used two quarterbacks. Kevin Lopina was 8-for-15 for 94 yards with two interceptions, and J.T. Levenseller was 2-for-5 for 20 yards with one interception.
