RICHLAND, Wash-- It's no secret Washington has great wine. It's also no secret Washington has a lot of wine. So picking just one bottle out of hundreds, talk about a difficult task.
We first told you about the best in show winner in the Tri-Cities Wine Festival: Walla Walla based Russel Creek Winery's 2005 select syrah.
But close behind was Richland's Tagaris winery, which took home two gold stars for their their mourvedre and malbec.
We got a tour of the winery, and met with the wine-maker himself, who says he knew he was onto something big. But this big?
"Home cooking always tastes good, it's just really nice to see that other people are appreciating what we do," says Jason Hamilton, the assistant wine-maker. "You never know what's in store next, we're taking it one step at a time, trying to make the best wines possible and hoping that everyone likes what we do."
KNDU spoke with both wineries, and they're both thrilled. And they say they won't raise their prices because of the win. And yes, we did ask for the winning recipe, but couldn't get it out of him.
