WAPATO--Wapato Presbyterian Church is not wasting any time preparing for Thanksgiving. For the 74th year in a row, they are having their Turkey Dinner fundraiser.
The church's pastor says today is their busiest day of the year. By the look of things, even an uncertain economic future is not keeping people from coming out to eat.
"People are coming because they're looking to visit with their friends and have a good meal," Pastor Dave Norwood said. "For $9 a meal, as a fundraiser, that's right in the zone that people are willing to pay."
More than 200 people came in to eat on Sunday. That is without counting take-out orders, or the 150 volunteers that make the dinner possible.
