Hog Run Collects Toys For Yakima YWCA

YAKIMA--Yakima streets were blocked off Sunday afternoon for Owen's Cycles Hog Toy Run.

Bikers from all over the Yakima Valley met at Owen's Cycles on North First Street for the 15th annual Hog Toy Run.  Riders took off around 1 p.m. with stuffed animals and toys strapped to their bikes.

The run collects toys for the Yakima chapter of the Young Women's Christian Association.  The YWCA then gives the toys to families as christmas gifts.

The Hog Toy Run brings a merry Christmas to some who otherwise would not have one.

"All of this support goes to make Christmas extra special for all the women and their families that are currently staying with the YWCA," YWCA Executive Director Elizabeth Farley said.

Farley said even with a slumping economy donations are still pouring in.

A couple hundred bikers came out today.  Their donations will help hundreds of local families.

The ride took about 30 minutes and finished at the YWCA's new women's shelter.
