Fewer Than 100 Days Until the DTV Switch? Are You Ready?
KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Senior government leaders and broadcasters met Monday Morning in Washington D.C. to talk about the switch to digital television. As of Monday, there are 100 days left until the digital TV transition.
We want to remind you, time is running out if you still have rabbit ears or a roof-top antenna. You won't be able to watch your favorite channels after February 17th unless you get a converter box. If you have cable or a satellite dish, you should be just fine for the switch.
The Senior Director of Media Relations for the National Association of Broadcasters, Shermaze Ingram says, "The goal of this press conference was not only to mark this milestone, but to also urge Americans to begin taking action if they haven't already to make sure that they order their coupons to get those converter boxes, and those coupons are available from the federal government."
It's a $40.00 coupon that will cover almost the entire cost of the converter box, but Ingram warns that it could take up to six weeks to get those coupons in the mail.
