State Penitentiary in Walla Walla in Lockdown After Inmate Fights
WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- A section of the state penitentiary in Walla Walla was in lockdown Tuesday morning after fights broke out among nearly 20 inmates.
The incident happened at about 6 p.m. Monday night. Prison administrators said they are still investigating, but they believe the fight started when one inmate hit another with a tray during dinner.
Administrators say the fights were broken up in about four minutes. Two inmates and two corrections officers were treated for minor injuries. Unit D, in the facility's West Complex, was expected to be in lockdown through Tuesday.
