KENNEWICK, Wash. - High winds blow a tree over in Kennewick landing just 10 feet away from a house.
It happened on Kennewick Avenue just blocks away from the Tri-City Country Club.
Tree trimmers with Superior Tree Service who shredded the tree tell me it was a least 60 feet high, and about 3 feet thick. They say the people living at the home next to where the tree fell are very lucky, just 10 feet to the left and they could have been cutting the tree from inside the living room. They also said it's important to get your trees checked out, maybe trimmed or even cut down before something like this happens.
"If we do it and it's still up we can piece out and use ropes and do it a lot nicer and easier and it's a lot easier on the yard, and no damage," said Oscar Davis with Superior Tree Service.
The tree was rotted out on the inside which made it weak. Davis suspects at least a dozen or more trees on the same street could potentially snap for the same reason.
