Burbank Community Starts Petition After Fatal Accident
BURBANK, Wash.-- On Saturday, November 1st, the intersection of Highway 12 and Humorist Road, was the scene of a fatal truck accident for Jorge and Jesus Mendez.
A group of people here in Burbank have now started at petition to make some changes on the road. They essentially want the speed limit on this road to go down from 60 to 45 miles per hour.
They also want cameras at the intersection, because they say it would help with accident investigations.
"Not just trucks but cars, that blow those lights everyday, and it's just a horrible horrible design, and every time you go out to that intersection you take your life in your own hands literally," said Sally Michael, who works at the Sunmart at the same intersection.
On Friday, November 14th, students from Columbia High are putting together a spaghetti feed to raise money for the Mendez family. It starts at 6:30 p.m.
So far there's been more than 1,000 signatures collected. Anyone is welcomed to go and sign, as long as they have a driver's license.
On Friday, November 14th, there will also be a candle light vigil a 7:30 p.m. at the Sunmart in Burbank.
