Special Olympics Saturday (SOS)
Saturday, November 22nd, 2008
From 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Retired Yakima County Sheriff's Office Reserve Lt. Gary McLaren and Yakima Police Department's Sgt. Tim Bardwell will be "freezin for a reason" on the roof top of the South First Street Les Schwab Tire Store located at 2002 S. 1st Street to raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics Washington.
At 9:45 a.m. the Yakima City Fire Department will hoist these two gentlemen to the roof top of the Les Schwab Tire Store. Citizens are encouraged to stop by and drop off donations in support of Special Olympics. There will be a good natured competition between the Sheriff's Office and the Police Department on who can raise the most donations for Special Olympics. Each agency will have their own bucket to lower down for donations; the agency with the most donations at the end of the day will be declared the winner.
Special Olympics Washington provides year-round sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. By participating in sports, physical fitness and healthcare education programs, Special Olympics Washington athletes increase self-confidence and social skills, improve physical and motor skills, and have better success in leading more productive and independent lives.
For questions regarding this event please contact Gary McLaren at 509-949-4646.
We would like to thank the South 1st street Les Schwab store and the Yakima City Fire Department for supporting this event.
