Columbia Generation Station to shut down

Posted: Updated:

Hanford, WA.-- The nuclear power plant at Hanford will shut down tomorrow so workers can make some repairs on some leaking steam line valves.

Energy Northwest says the leaks are small, but fixing them now will prevent larger leaks that could shut down the plant for a longer stretch.

The Columbia Generating station produces more than one million dollars worth of electricity a day.

Energy Northwest says the power plant should be off line for about five days.
