RICHLAND, Wash-- At this time, a house fire on Norris Street is still under investigation. But one man is in the hospital. Fire fighters say a neighbor trying to help was injured.
As for the home, the back is charred. There was a lot of insulation in the home, and one fire fighter tells KNDU that it is very flammable.
Fire fighters were on the scene around one o'clock Saturday afternoon. They say they knew it would be fairly big because you could see it from a distance.
"While we were en route, you could see a column of smoke coming from the area," says Richland Batallion Chief James Hempstead. "Upon the first units arrival, they had heavy smoke showing from the backside of the structure and flames as they went around the corner they could see."
It took fire fighters from Richland, Kennewick, and fire district four to put out the flames. But the Batallion Chief says it was contained in twenty minutes.
