GRANGER--A man was trapped up to his waist in mud in Granger for nearly an hour before firefighters pull him out.
Just like every morning,William Waymire took his dogs for a walk along Snyder Road. But this time, one of them got stuck in deep mud.
Waymire tried to pull the dog out himself, but ended up stuck as well. At one point he was up to his waist and his dog, Hunter, was nearly up to his eyes in mud.
Waymire called 911 at about 10:20 Sunday morning. He did not get pulled out until almost an hour later. He quickly realized that he was in a sticky situation.
"I could tell he was stuck," Waymire said. "It was like a paste. I just kept lifting him and lifting him, but as I did my legs [went] down in deeper."
"It was really tough because we couldn't get our footing to really pull on him," fireman Terry Carter said. "Finally we were able to get a knee up and then we were able to get the other knee up."
Waymire was shivering for a while but both he and hunter are okay. He said he did not panic at all once he called 911. He said he was excited by how the day turned out and called his stay in the mud an "adventure."
