KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Starting Monday, law enforcement agencies in Yakima, Benton, and Franklin counties will be doing seat belt emphasis patrols.
The patrols will go from November 17th to December 7th. Officers say people are less likely to buckle up during the holiday season because they're often in a hurry and rushing.
In 2008, there have been 12 fatality collisions in the Tri-Cities area. 7 of the 12 people killed were not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision.
If you get a ticket for not wearing your seat belt, the fee is $124.
