Troopers Watch for People Not Buckled Up in Kennewick
KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Washington State Patrol troopers kicked off their Night Time Seat Belt Enforcement campaign Monday night.
Troopers stood on the corner of Highway 395 and Clearwater Avenue watching for people not wearing their seat belts.
As of 11:00 Monday night, they had ticketed 13 people for not wearing their seat belts. One of those drivers also had a suspended license. Troopers say they often find someone with a suspended license, expired tabs, or the occasional drunk driver when they pull someone over for not wearing a seat belt.
Troopers also say fewer people wear seat belts at night, yet that's the most dangerous time of day.
