D.A.R.E 20th Anniversary in Kennewick Schools

KENNEWICK, Wash-- Kennewick Police and 5th graders celebrated the 20th anniversary of the D.A.R.E. program in Kennewick at Edision Elementary.

This graduation was special because many past and present Kennewick D.A.R.E. Officers were recognized and  that included Police Chief Ken Hohenberg, who was the City of Kennewick's first ever D.A.R.E. Officer.
"Well you know it was a totally new experience for me but when I first walked onto the school grounds back then kids were asking who got in trouble, why are you here. I mean they weren't used to seeing a police officer come on campus," said Chief Hohenberg.

D.A.R.E. was started by the Los Angeles Police Department in 1983 and has grown into a nationwide program.
