Body Bags Piling Up in Front of Kennewick High School
KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Students at Kennewick High School are stretching the "Great American Smokeout" Day to an entire week.
Since Monday, students in the group "SHOUT" (Students Helping Others Understand Tobacco) have been putting fake body bags in front of the school. The body bags represent the number of teen smokers who will eventually die from a disease attributed to tobacco use.
"We're just trying to show that tobacco use is not socially acceptable for the youth in our area", said Kaylee Dockum, President of SHOUT.
By Friday, the group plans to have 105 body bags piled up in front of the school.
