Yakima Area Media Outlets, Fire and Police Departments Compete in Celebrity Turkey Bowling
YAKIMA, Wash. - Grocery Outlet hosted its Fifth Annual Celebrity Turkey Bowling competition with teams competing for frozen turkeys to give to local charities.
Each team of celebrities, made up of three members local media outlets as well as fire and police departments, had the chance to win a total of 30 frozen birds. For each strike they scored, the team's charity received a turkey.
KNDO played for Northwest Harvest and scored 12 strikes.
Rosemary Rief is the communication director for Northwest Harvest, she says each one will make a big difference for someone next week.
"With one turkey, a family can have a Thanksgiving meal plus many more with the leftovers." said Rief.
Reporters Ileana Diaz, Katie Uthes, and Nick Paradise were representing KNDO for the first time. They tried to win the competition, for the station, a third year in a row. But when the last turkey sailed across the floor, no team could match radio station KIT's total of 18 strikes.
KNDO did place third, higher than any of the other TV stations.
