1 fatally shot, 1 wounded in mall in Tukwila and gunman still at large
TUKWILA, Wash.- A young gunman remains at large following the shooting death of one teenager and the wounding of another at a busy Seattle-area shopping mall. Tukwila police Officer Mike Murphy says at least four or five people were detained and questioned after the shooting yesterday afternoon at Southcenter, but none was the shooter. He says the shooting stemmed from a fight between two groups totaling no more than half a dozen people and may have been gang related. Murphy adds that only one weapon was fired and investigators found no evidence that anyone else who was involved had a gun. A spokeswoman at Harborview Medical Center confirms the identity of the dead teenager as 16 year old Daiquin L. Jones. 15 year old Jermaine McGowen survived the shooting, and his condition was upgraded today from critical to satisfactory. Jones had gotten out of jail Friday and McGowen is due in court tomorrow on burglary charges.
