Senator Maria Cantwell Visits PNNL Lab and Infinia
KENNEWICK, Wash-- Senator Maria Cantwell visited the PNNL Bio Lab at WSU Tri-Cities and new solar energy company Infinia.
Cantwell is encouraging investment in clean energy and Infinia and PNNL are on the forefront of the renewable energy industry.
She helped get tax incentives to companies like Infinia that produce solar energy products and predicts the tax credits could create more than 400,000 jobs in America by 2016.
Different renewable energy leaders held a roundtable with the Senator today and that included a director from PNNL.They have partnered with WSU Tri-Cites to build a bio-energy lab where they are looking for ways to use biofuel instead of oil in cars.
"Because of PNNL and their work on clean energy the Tri-Cities and State of Washington is well positioned to be a real leader in some of the solutions that will be good for our country and I actually think we will be leaders in technology that will help the world too," said Cantwell.
Another tax credit will be given to people who buy electric cars. They will get a tax credit of $7,500 for using an electric car.
