Fog, Icy Roads Cause Several Accidents Near Blue Bridge in Tri-Cities
KENNEWICK, Wash. -- State troopers are blaming fog and icy roads for several traffic collisions near the Blue Bridge Tuesday morning.
State patrol estimates there were eight accidents in that area between the hours of 4 a.m. and 8 a.m. A frozen fog warning, issued by the National Weather Service, was in effect until 10 a.m. Several of the collisions happened on icy ramps.
Police say drivers just need to slow down in poor conditions.
"People just don't always take into account that they can't see as far and they don't make the adjustment for the time, whether it's the time to get to somewhere or even the time and distance between the car in front of you", said Sgt. Randy Maynard, Kennewick Police Department.
Maynard said he sees more accidents this time of year because people are not used to winter-like conditions.
