Cougs Win, Huskies Lose in Mens Hoops

      Washington State 67, Canisius 41
      PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) - Taylor Rochestie scored 17 points and
freshman Klay Thompson added 15 points to lead unbeaten Washington
State to a 67-41 victory over Canisius last night in Pullman.
      Daven Harmeling contributed 10 points as the Cougars improved
their record to 4-0. The Golden Griffins from Buffalo, N.Y., went
to 1-3.
      Washington State led 39-15 at halftime.
      The Cougars outrebounded Canisius 44-27 and forced 18 turnovers.
      Chris Gadley topped the Golden Griffins with 13 points.

      No. 17 Florida 86, Washington 84
      KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Despite strong games from Jon Brockman,
freshman Isiah Thomas and Justin Dentmon last night in Kansas City,
Washington was an 86-84 loser to No. 17 Florida in the consolation
game of the CBE Classic.
      Brockman had 22 points and 11 rebounds, Thomas finished with 17
points and nine assists, and Dentmon added 17 points as the
Huskies' record fell to 2-3.
      Nick Calathes scored 15 of his 21 points in the second half for
the 4-1 Gators.
