Micah Downs and Jeremy Pargo key No. 9 Gonzaga's 83-71 win over
Oklahoma State
      LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP) - Micah Downs scored 17 points and
Jeremy Pargo added 15 last night to lead ninth-ranked Gonzaga past
Oklahoma State 83-71 in the Old Spice Classic in Lake Buena Vista,
      Gonzaga was trailing by one point with 7 minutes left when the
Bulldogs went on a 9-0 run that put them ahead 71-63 with 4:21
      Today, the Bulldogs will play Maryland, which upset No. 5
Michigan State 80-62.
      Terrel Harris scored 17 points and Obi Muonelo added 16 points
and 15 rebounds for Oklahoma State.
      Seattle defeats Louisiana Tech 61-46 in opening round of Great
Alaska Shootout
      ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Austen Powers scored 16 points as
Seattle defeated Louisiana Tech 61-46 last night in the first round
of the Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout.
      Chris Gweth added 14 points as the Redhawks, moving up from
Division II, defeated a fellow Division I opponent for the first
time since 1980.
      Seattle methodically built a nine-point first-half lead, 21-12.
But after Powers scored with 9:51 remaining, the Redhawks didn't
hit another field goal before halftime. Louisiana Tech tied the
score 22-22 just before intermission.
      Michael Wright, Powers and Gweth each hit 3-pointers to give
Seattle the lead for good, 31-26, early in the second half.
      Kyle Gibson led Louisiana Tech with 14 points and David Jackson
had 10.
      WSU at NJ tournament today
      PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) - The Washington State men's basketball team
is in New Jersey today for a game against Mississippi State in the
Legends Classic tournament.
      It's the first road game of the season for the Cougars, who are
4-0. They have never before played Mississippi State, which is 5-0.
      The Cougars' last meeting against an SEC opponent was in the
2007 NCAA Tournament when WSU fell to Vanderbilt, 78-74, in double
      Depending on the outcome of today's game, WSU will then face
either No. 4 Pittsburgh or Texas Tech.
      Washington State is coming off a 67-41 victory over Canisius on
      Husky Classic
      SEATTLE (AP) - The University of Washington women's basketball
team hosts the 22nd annual Husky Classic today and Sunday at Bank
of America Arena in Seattle.
      The Huskies have won the Husky Classic 14 times overall, and are
trying for their fourth in a row.
      Washington will play Seattle University today, while Clemson
plays Kent State. The consolation and championship games will be
