Kennewick Police on YouTube

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash-- The Kennewick Police Department is turning to the Internet to help recruit new officers. They are using YouTube to show what it's like to be a police officer.

They are using YouTube because it's an easy way to get a video out to the public. Viewers can play it from anywhere in the world. KPD uses the video to motivate new recruits. They have a recruitment team showing it on college campuses and military bases.
It gives people a chance to see what it's like to be a police officer in Kennewick. Two officers spent four months creating this video and it's had almost 500 hits on youtube.
Right now they are searching for a new officer to join their department.

"It gives a good wide range of an audience. We need to generate some good potential recruits and hopefully that will do it," said Ofc. Stan Howard.

Also the City of Kennewick is using YouTube to talk about the growing environment for businesses. They show clips from the wine industry and new restaurants like PF Changs.
YouTube is a great website because links to different videos can be sent through e-mail.
