Local Groups Celebrating World AIDS Day

RICHLAND, Wash. -- Monday is the 20th Anniversary of World AIDS Day and this year's slogan is "leadership". Organizers are asking everyone, from individuals, to organizations, to governments to lead the respons to AIDS.

Some local groups are doing just that.

There's a "Cookie, Coffee, and Condoms" AIDS information fair Monday at the WSU Tri-Cities campus. It runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the West Building Atrium in Richland. The event is sponsored by the school's Multicultural Club and the Crimson Scrubs Nursing Club. Admission is free.

Also, the Community Unitarian Universalist Church, in Pasco, is having a special ceremony Monday night at 7 p.m. They're planning to light luminaries in honor of those living with AIDS and in memory of those who have died from the disease.
