Dec 8th - Winter Festival Concert

The Yakima Valley Community Band will perform a FREE indoor concert open to the public on Monday, December 8th at the Eisenhower High School Little Theater at 702 S. 40th Avenue in Yakima.  The show starts at 7:30 PM.

"Winter Festival" Concert program, directed by Douglas Nott, will delight hte audience, as the band will play a variety of musical selections.  To warm up the audience, the band will open up with The Star-Spangled Banner. Outstanding trumpeter Bob Allgaier will be the feature soloist in Nessun Dorma, from Puccini's famous opera Turandot.  The highlight of the concert may be when the lights come down and the stage is lighted with stand lights as the band plays Mannheim Steamroller's Stille Nacht. Keeping with tradition, the band will play a march or two.  For an encore, the band plans to bring out the bells and whips with a Leroy Anderson fun filled Sleigh Ride.

Winter Festival will end with Carmen Dragon's rendition of America, The Beautiful.

Yakima Valley Community Band is a nonprofit educational service organization with approximately 70 volunteer musician members.  Members come from Yakima, Naches, Tieton, Selah, Wapato, Moxee, Toppenish, Sunnyside, Grandivew, Zillah and Ellensburg to be part of the band.  The focus of the organization is to provide a place for adult musicians to continue their musical experience, to promote the arts and to provide free concerts for the communities in which we live.
