Hermiston Woman Hit and Killed at Dangerous Intersection

HERMISTON, Ore-- Still no charges against the driver who hit and killed a 77-year old Hermiston woman, at what police are calling a dangerous intersection.

Yesterday morning 56 year-old Melvin King of Caldwell, Idaho hit Joan Reeske while she was crossing a crosswalk on Elm St.

King was driving a semi-truck and turning off of Highway 395. Reeske was pronounced dead at the site of the accident.

"It's a high frequency intersection it's two highways crossing, one another. Highway 395 and Highway 207 which is a truck route. To my knowledge we've responded to crashes, but I don't believe there's been a fatality at that intersection in the last several years," said Lt. Jason Edmiston, Hermiston Police Department.

Right now Hermiston Police are waiting for blood tests to come back before prosecutors will consider if they will file charges or not.
