Police Say Intersection Where Woman Died is Dangerous

Posted: Updated:

HERMISTON, Ore -  Police in Hermiston says it's a dangerous intersection where an elderly woman died this week.

Officers say 77 year old Joan Reeske was in the crosswalk at 395 and Elm Street when she was struck by a semi.

Officers say the truck had just left the highway.

"It's a high frequency intersection. It's two highways crossing one another. Highway 395 and highway 207, which is a truck route. To my knowledge we've responded to crashes, but I don't believe there's even been a fatality at that intersection in the last several years."

Hermiston police are waiting for blood tests to see if the truck driver may have been impaired.
