Former British Leader Praises Obama Team, Urges Push for Mideast Peace
WASHINGTON (AP) - Britain's former prime minister is offering praise for President-elect Barack Obama's picks for his national security team.
Tony Blair says Obama has put together a "very, very strong team" with Hillary Rodham Clinton as secretary of state and retired Gen. James L. Jones as national security adviser. Blair also mentioned Jones as someone who understands the Middle East security situation "very well."
Blair is now an international envoy to the Middle East. He told the Council on Foreign Relations today that the time is right for a fresh push for progress there. He adds that much will be riding on what Obama does.
