West Valley Family Meets with Red Cross, Local Chapter Encourages Residents to Donate
WEST VALLEY, Wash. - A local family met with the Red Cross Thursday to figure out their next steps after losing their home Wednesday night.
The fire happened on the 4000 block of Hawks Landing. The family's house is considered a complete loss estimated around $170,000. Only the home owner was inside at the time but got out safely, according to the West Valley Fire Department. The cause of the fire is still being investigated. There was one minor firefighter injury, no one else was hurt.
The Yakima Valley Chapter of the Red Cross has helped multiple families in similar situations in the past month alone. The chapter is always looking for support from the community.
