Applesauce For EveryonePosted: Updated:
SELAH, Wash-- As a kid I know I ate my fair share of applesauce. Tree Top, the main sponsor of the KNDO Family Food Drive, is making sure children around Yakima get their fill too. Tree Top is donating 40,000 pounds of applesauce.
Tree Top's sponsoring our food drive for the fifth year now.
"There's enough applesauce in there to feed a whole lot of families for many nights. I don't know how much 40,000 pounds will feed, but it's a lot of applesauce," said Dan Hagerty, Sr. VP, Marketing and Sales.
As a local company, Tree Top takes great pride in helping with the Family Food Drive. Dan said the spirit is contagious each year and he's impressed with the communities generosity.
"I've seen people that look like they should be receiving donations digging into their pockets to do whatever they can to help people that are less fortunate than they are," said Hagerty.
After making sure the applesauce was good to go, I got a chance to try a new Tree Top product.
"We actually went out and asked adults what do you want in a fruit beverage and overwhelmingly they came back and told us they want something that helps with their weight," said Bryce Godfrey, business development director.
So the drink "Trim" was born. It's now on the shelves of local grocery stores and the canned version will be available this Spring.
"The marketing guys want certain attributes in a product line so it's our job to turn their desires into a finished product," said John Baranowski, process research manager.
Well of course I had to give it a try and it was pretty good.
Be sure to swing on by the KNDO Family Food Drive, people from Tree Top will be on hand all day serving hot apple cider with caramel and whipped cream.
