2A Title Game: Lynden Slips By Prosser, 35-34, in Double Overtime

Posted: Updated:

TACOMA, Wash. -- Prosser Quarterback Jordan Durbin was 24 for 35 for 375 yards and 4 scores but the Mustangs were dropped by the Lions 35-34.

Receiver Kirby Moore also had 14 carries for 267 yards in his last game as a Mustang but it was to no avail.

The Mustangs took a 21-6 lead in the 4th quarter on a 38-yard pass from Durbin to Moore. But with 1:31 left in regulation, the Lions mounted a comeback, scoring 2 touchdowns and a 2-point conversion to tie the game at 21.

In the 1st overtime, both teams scored a touchdown and the score was locked at 28. In the second O.T., Lynden's David Gaylord powered in a 1-yard run to give the Lions a 35-28 lead. Then, the Durbin and Moore connection worked wonders again for Prosser as the receiver took it in from 10 yards out to make it 35-34 Lynden.

An extra point would have tied it but Mustang Head Coach Tom Moore elected to go for 2 and Jordan Durbin's pass fell incompete.

Prosser finishes 2nd in State with the loss.
