Two Yakima Businesses Awarded For Hiring Most Veterans in WA
YAKIMA, Wash.-- Two Yakima businesses are getting honored for hiring the largest number of veterans in the state.
Keeler's Medical Supply and ACTNOW, Inc. received a plaque on Monday from the state's Employment Security Department.
Keeler's Medical has thirteen veterans working at their store. ACTNOW is a temporary work agency, and nearly a third of their clients are veterans.
"The veterans were a good choice for us, we actually were able to work with employment security and their veterans affairs program, and we've has very good success with our return vets from the gulf war and past," said Chuck Vetsch, CEO at Keeler's Medical Supply.
The awards were part of the state's Hire-a-Vet Challenge, but the CEO of Keeler's Medical tells us, the award was a surprise for him. Both companies have partnered with WorkSource in Yakima to help find jobs for veterans.
